The practice was opened in 1995 with a huge expansion into the shopping centre’s former basement car park in 2017. This expansion has made the Sutton branch the largest Specsavers in the UK – and indeed worldwide. Sutton-in-Ashfield’s Specsavers has won numerous accolades including the UK’s Multiple practice of the year award 2013 and 2015, the UK’s Optical Assistant Team of the Year 2011 and the UK’s Family Optician of the Year 2009 in the annual awards run by Optician magazine which is the leading industry journal. It also won the first customer service award in the Chad in 2009 and in 2015 attained the gold Investors in People Quality standard.
Specsavers Sutton supports and sponsors many local organisations during the year, including Sutton Community Academy and John Eastwood Hospice. It also supports Guide Dogs for the Blind, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, the Ashfield Food Bank and Macmillan Cancer Support. It collects spectacles for recycling and in 2013 a team went out to Africa to test the local population and supply them with free spectacles. A short film of the trip can be found at http://youtu.be/KE-IGNKHwpk – follow-up visit took place in 2015 when over 400 pairs of donated glasses were distributed.
A wide range of frames are always on display.
Full eye examinations including digital retinal photography can be booked.
In addition, enhanced eye examinations (including 3-D eye scans using OCT) are available at a cost of £10. This advanced scan allows accredited optometrists to view the retina in much greater detail, and is useful in the early detection of conditions such as; macular degeneration, glaucoma and retinal detachment, amongst others.
A full diabetic screening service is available, with accredited Optical Assistants for the North Nottinghamshire programme and also participate in the fast-track wet macular degeneration scheme and cataract schemes in conjunction with the local hospital.
Sutton Specsavers has the required equipment necessary to carry out specialist visual field testing for the DVLA.
A full hearing service is available, with a dedicated room and hearing booth.

We aim to make it quick and easy to arrange an appointment, and orders for glasses will be completed with the minimum of fuss. There are hundreds of frame styles to choose from and if you need any advice, our team are available to help. We collect feedback from our clients daily and use this to improve our service. Specsavers combines the friendliness and local knowledge that comes from being part of the community, with the major benefits of a large optical group. Our Clear Price policy, free eyecare for children and a complete contact lens fitting and aftercare service are just some of the advantages of choosing Specsavers Opticians.”
