New Partnership Announcement: Idlewells Joins Forces with Leon’s Legacy

At Idlewells Shopping Centre, the heart of Sutton-in-Ashfield, the safety and well-being of our community are our top priorities. We are incredibly proud to announce that we have officially partnered with Leon’s Legacy, a local non-profit organisation dedicated to increasing cardiac arrest survival rates.

Bringing Life-Saving Technology to Sutton-in-Ashfield

To kick off this vital collaboration, we are installing a new, state-of-the-art defibrillator on-site. This device is designed to be used by anyone, even those without medical training, to assist someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.

The defibrillator will be easily accessible during the centre’s standard opening hours, providing peace of mind to our shoppers and local residents. In addition to the defibrillator, we have also received bleed kits to further enhance our emergency response capabilities.

The Story Behind Leon’s Legacy

Leon’s Legacy was founded in memory of Leon Smith, a local teacher who tragically suffered a cardiac arrest at work. Despite the heroic efforts of school staff and emergency responders, Leon did not survive.

In his honour, his family launched Leon’s Legacy to ensure more schools and public spaces are equipped with life-saving equipment. We are honoured to support their mission and help them continue this incredible work across Mansfield, Kirkby, and Sutton.

Our Continued Support for Local Causes

We are now proud to support two official charity partners. Alongside Leon’s Legacy, we will continue our long-standing support for Rainbows Children’s Hospice, an organisation that does beautiful work brightening the lives of children and families across the East Midlands.

Stay tuned for upcoming fundraising events and community initiatives as we work together to make Sutton-in-Ashfield a safer, stronger place for everyone.
